The Tahoe SSV, Explained
Same V8, service-truck stance. The special service Tahoe keeps the 355 hp 5.3L V8 and heavy duty cooling, then adds standard ride height, available 4WD with a two speed transfer case, and a heavy duty trailering package.
Built for mud, snow, dog hair, and trailers. K9 teams get room for the insert and climate control that protects the dog. Command staff get a comfortable office with real cargo space. Rural agencies get the ground clearance and skid plates the lowered PPV gives up.
One standard, nationwide. We upfit the SSV and the Tahoe PPV to the same FountHarness standard, with a lifetime warranty and published lead times. Not sure which one your fleet needs? Ask. We tell you straight, even when the honest answer is the cheaper truck.

Tahoe SSV Questions, Answered
Who should buy the SSV instead of the PPV?
K9 units, command staff, investigators, off road response, and anyone towing. If the vehicle will chase, buy the Tahoe PPV. If it will carry, climb, or haul, the SSV is the better tool and often the better price.
Is the Tahoe SSV pursuit rated?
No. SSV means Special Service Vehicle: police equipment capacity and durability without the pursuit rating. Most agency policies restrict pursuits to rated vehicles, so plan your fleet mix accordingly.
Can you build the SSV as a K9 unit?
All day. Insert, heat alarm, door popper, rear climate: we install and wire the whole K9 package with labeled circuits, and the install is covered by our lifetime warranty. The dog gets the safest office in the fleet.
Are Tahoe SSVs available right now?
Yes. We source SSVs through our own allocation and dealer network, so availability does not depend on whether GM is taking orders this month. See our published lead times.
