What is vehicle upfitting?
Vehicle upfitting is installing specialized aftermarket equipment so a vehicle can do a specific job: emergency lighting and sirens on a police car, a service body and crane on a work truck, shelving in a trade van, a plow on a municipal pickup. The upfitter sources the equipment, engineers the layout, installs it, and wires it into the vehicle’s electrical system. Standard builds run on published 30 to 40 business day lead times.
Is upfitting the same as outfitting?
Same job, different accent. The trade says “upfitting,” some agencies say “outfitting,” and both mean equipping a vehicle for duty. If a shop argues about the word instead of showing you their wiring, leave.

Does upfitting void the factory warranty?
A proper upfit does not. Problems start when installers cut into factory harnesses or ignore the manufacturer’s upfit guidelines. We build on the OEM’s designated power and switching architecture, document every circuit, and add our own lifetime warranty on top of the factory coverage.
What should I look for in an upfitter?
Ask three questions. Can I see an itemized quote? Can I see your wiring, labeled and documented? What happens when something fails in year four? The answers separate professionals from lightbar hobbyists faster than any brochure.
Do you handle one vehicle or only whole fleets?
Both. A township replacing one cruiser gets the same wiring standard, QC, and lifetime warranty as a 500 unit national deployment. The build does not know how big your fleet is. Government buyers can skip the bid through our cooperative contracts and bundle it all with financing.
