The 3500 carries service bodies and lighter dumps with better maneuverability and price. Cranes, wreckers, and constant heavy trailers push you to the RAM 5500. Buy the truck for the payload you weigh, not the one you brag about.
Best configuration for trade fleets?
Regular cab 4×4 with a 9 foot aluminum service body covers most electrical, plumbing, and mechanical fleets. We standardize compartment layouts across your trucks so tools live in the same place in every unit.
Gas or Cummins at this size?
Gas wins for most Class 3 duty: lower cost, simpler service, happy on short routes. The Cummins makes sense when the truck doubles as the trailer mule.
